Mental Breaks that Make You Whole; The Journey To Wholeness Part ll

In Part One I talked about the mental breaks that make you whole. If one doesn’t take care of themselves spiritually, mentally, and physically then possibly you will be forced to have someone take care of you. You only have one life to live and you need to live it unapologetically, you need to live it whole and complete, and you need to live it emotionally attached. You need to heal so that you can be whole. So, now it’s time to elaborate on the journey to wholeness. The journey to wholeness is taking advantage of the different opportunities of healing thyself and overseeing your life. For me, healing didn’t mean the absence of disease, it meant having a strategy to live a quality life in order to avoid becoming ill or having a disease.

Being whole meant me having a proper diet to reduce my cholesterol to avoid heart disease in the future. I’ve always been a person that (for the most part) had a healthy diet. But I started slacking. I started eating out more than I was cooking, I started eating fast foods because I was moving to fast (always in a hurry) and, I wasn’t eating enough fiber-containing foods daily like I should have. I wasn’t taking care of my temple, so I felt tired and lethargic. Therefore, I wasn’t working out like I should have because of feeling sluggish. I woke up tired and went to bed tired and that’s when I knew there was an issue.

Being whole also didn’t just mean me having a proper diet, it also meant me working out which helped me feel better physically and mentally. My negligence of me not eating right caused me to not get the proper rest and sleep that my body required. It caused me to wake up a couple times a night feeling anxious. Me not eating right caused me to have an unhealthy lifestyle. Then one day the holy spirit said, “you must rest, you must eat right so that you can feel right, and you must spend more quality time meditating, praying, and studying your word so that you can be and feel whole.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So, glorify God in your body.” My body is a temple and I had to take care of it. My journey to becoming whole meant that I took an inventory of my life and created a strategy that possibly saved my life.

Mentally: I had to change my mindset because mental paralysis is worse than physical paralysis. If I wouldn’t have changed my mindset then I wouldn’t have changed my life. Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” I write down daily what I’m grateful for and I read at least 15 minutes a day.

Physically: I changed my daily way of eating. I cook more and eat out less, I exercise a few times a week, and I do my breathing exercise which helps me to mentally slow down. Spiritually: I had to open my ear-gates so that I can hear God. My mornings consist of me praying, reading the bible, and studying the bible more. I command my day by declaring, decreeing, and speaking over my life while focusing on myself more. Our bodies are not our own and we owe it to God as well as ourselves to take care of it.
